ePrivacy law, also known as European Privacy Law, is a set of rules and regulations that protects the privacy and personal data of individual European Union (EU) citizens about their personal information being processed by organizations and businesses outside the EU.
The law aims to ensure that companies respect the privacy rights of EU citizens, regardless of where they are operating or headquartered.
It covers data protection, processing, retention, and individuals’ rights to access, modify, and delete their personal information.
The law also penalizes businesses that do not comply with its requirements, including significant fines.
It has been in effect since 2002.
